UNESCO: Young People Play an Important Role in Building a Better World for All

IIONews – Several academic institutes in the world collaborate to create a virtual global forum for the youth community of sustainability; they are ITERA, UTHM Malaysia, USM Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam, The Policy Times, and many other institutes on December 30th, 2021. This community is basically involved students from 80 countries.

Acep Purqon, Ph.D. as representative of ITERA in his opening remarks said that these issues are related to our future, especially for the young generation. He admits that SDGs are big issues thus he expects a big contribution for young people to designing the future.

for Asia and the Pacific gives his speech as well. He conveyed that youth development and youth engagement are cross-cutting issues in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and young people play an important role in building a better world for all.

He added, “I congratulate partner organizations for organizing the 1st Global Youth Sustainability Forum today.
As the world struggles with the dual global crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, it is more important than ever to provide a platform for youth to engage and lead constructive dialogues on sustainability, creativity, heritage, and resilience.”

In this event, some issues are discussed by the students, such as campaign reducing gas emissions, managing e-waste, and designing a sustainable city.
